tag!

it's highly uncool to blog twice in one day (i'm thinking that it's also uncool to use the word "uncool"), but paul andreas "tagged" me, so i'm suppose to write 6 peculiar things about myself. welcome to the secrets of my life.

1. i lost the montgomery county spelling bee in the 4th grade by spelling "aorta" as "aorty."
2. my roommates know when i'm stressed because i clean and organize like a madman.
3. i'm an ordained pastor.
4. i have a saturday morning breakfast ritual with starbucks coffee in a special mug and something homemade to eat.
5. the movie "simon burch" scares me to death, as do small people
6. i can't stand tomatoes or red licorice.

now i tag evan, laurie, sara, randy, and jennifer.

introducing my good friend: meyers-briggs

You Are An ISFJ

The Nurturer

You have a strong need to belong, and you are very loyal.
A good listener, you excell at helping others in practical ways.
In your spare time, you enjoy engaging your senses through art, cooking, and music.
You find it easy to be devoted to one person, who you do special things for.

You would make a good interior designer, chef, or child psychologist.

i have taken this test maybe 4 times now (this is just a condensed version) and i am the same personality every time. and it's crazy because it describes the essence of me. i stayed at the base this week and came back to the apartment last night. the first thing i did... make scones. i couldn't help it. it was 23.00, i was tired, had been at a weekend camp with 10-13 year olds, and the only thing i could think about was "i need to bake something." i've also started making art projects and have quit saying that i'm not creative. deep down, i really am. i like to create - whether it be with a pen and paper, glue and cutouts from magazines, or decorating. i think it's quite exciting that we're not just one dimenstional.

i leave for india on friday. quite much to do, but i'm really excited! this past week i was in skien with my team. i'm excited to see how God will reveal Himself through them these next 8 weeks. as i wrote above, i went to a "camp" this weekend, really just a sleepover at a church. most of the kids weren't christian and i even spent time talking (in norwegian) with a muslim girl from afghanistan. there aren't many pastors who are so "real" that 20 non-christian kids, much less a muslim, would want to hang out at his church all weekend. i would like to see what God will do through this church in the next years.

a recluse am i not

i'm not a recluse, but it is true that it brings me great joy to stay in my apartment during the weekends. last night i ventured out to a friend's apartment, a goodbye of sorts, as i leave for india in less than two weeks. but i love staying in my apartment. i consider it my perogative, no - my duty, to protect the rights of all those 20something females who don't want to succumb to the pressure of being just like everyone else. why feel the need to get dressed up and go out on friday or saturday nights? i'm just trying to break the mold, stretch the boundaries of normalcy.
word to your mother. yes, tonight i have plans, but i have every intention of staying in my pajamas from sunday morning until monday afternoon, doing nothing but drinking coffee, checking email, reading, watching movies. and enjoying my last "free" weekend for the next two months. soon i will be surrounded by 7 million indians and assaults to my senses. so here's to thinking outside the box (or just staying in my apartment). cheers.
